Hurricane Florence passed through the Carolinas making landfall as a Category 1 hurricane. Over 1 million people were ordered to evacuate. As the torrential rains from the storm filled waterways and flooded roads, 51 people and over 3.4 million farm animals animals lost their lives during the storm. Damages are estimate at over $17 billion dollars and that number keeps rising.
Our team was on the ground providing support during the first few days after the storm. We continue to aid as many families and animals as we can.
Hurricane Michael is the 3rd most powerful hurricane to ever make landfall in the United States. Michael’s winds, like Hurricane Maria, were just 2 miles short of a Category 5 Hurricane. Hundreds of thousands of people lost power and 30 people lost their lives.
Our team is actively working in the Panhandle to bring food, water and supplies desperately needed. We are assisting local shelters and families with rehoming of pets as well.
Hurricane Maria decimated the island of Puerto Rico in September of 2017, blazing through as a Category 4 Hurricane just short 2 miles of a Category 5. A majority of the island’s structures were destroyed, power was lost throughout the island and over 2,400 people lost their lives. The stray animal problem was also exacerbated with the amount of animals abandoned during the hurricane.
Our team has been working on the ground since the hurricane and has continued to help the street dog crisis. We operate an animal sanctuary in Las Piedras that rescues anywhere from 10-30 animals per month.
